Edward Montiel, Instrument Scientist, Universities Space Research Assoc. and 2016 PhD alumnus LSU 

"SOFIA or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Fly on an Airplane with a Giant Hole"

Montiel will present about the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), which is an 80/20 joint NASA & DLR project, that concluded its active science program in September 2022. He will highlight how flights were planned, carried out, and some of the exciting science results.
