The Greek myth of Orpheus is transposed to Rio de Janeiro at Carnaval.  Eurydice is a country girl who has fled to the big city to escape a mysterious man who wants to kill her.  In Rio she meets Orpheus, a musician and trolley conductor popular with the ladies. They fall deeply in love, and when Death finally takes his Eurydice, Orpheus tries to retrieve her.  Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Free pizza!!!
