Troy Jericho III, an African-American attorney, conjures racial history and ancestral legacies as resources for determining whether or not he will prosecute a case that holds devastating consequences for the Black community. His mental journey invokes a motley crew of imaginary personages, past and present, that fuel his decision making. The imagined characters include enslaved people, Klu Klux Klan members, General Robert E. Lee, a Black Panther party member, Supreme Court Justices and a Rapper. Will he counter the views of his mixed-race, upper crust wife or will he become a bold advocate for justice in the eyes of his 8-year-old son?
