The Spring 2026 season of LA-SEER Talk: From Risk to Resilience will open with Dr. Jill C. Trepanier, Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography & Anthropology at LSU, whose research focuses on understanding and quantifying climate-driven risks in coastal and vulnerable regions.

Dr. Trepanier specializes in hurricane climatology and the statistical estimation of risk, applying advanced analytical methods to assess impacts on cultural heritage institutions, Native American sites, and coastal fisheries. Her work bridges climate science and societal outcomes, providing critical insights into how extreme weather events affect both natural and cultural systems across Louisiana.

In addition to her research, Dr. Trepanier is deeply engaged in environmental science education and outreach, supporting the integration of weather stations and real-time climate data into K–12 classrooms across South Louisiana. Through her interdisciplinary research and commitment to education, Dr. Trepanier advances resilience by improving risk awareness, strengthening decision-making, and fostering climate literacy in communities facing increasing environmental challenges.
