The score made famous by Disney’s Fantasia, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is festive and thrilling orchestral work that launches this program. Joining the LSU Symphony will be new Associate Professor of Oboe, Dr. Andrew Parker, in a rarely heard concerto gem by English composer, teacher and oboist, Ruth Gipps. The evening closes with a work rich in orchestral colors and sonorities, Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 in B minor.
