LSU Professor & TED Talk speaker Prosanta Chakrabarty will discuss being a fish curator at LSU’s Museum of Natural Science, which includes his travels to many tropical countries where he works with local people to better understand evolution and Earth history. Come learn about his lab’s natural history research and about how much fish can tell us about ourselves.
Dr. Prosanta Chakrabarty is a Full Professor and the Curator of Fishes at the Museum of Natural Science and Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University. He grew up in New York City, his undergraduate degree is from McGill University in Montreal (the city where he was born) and his PhD is from the University of Michigan. He is a former Program Director at the National Science Foundation, an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a TED Senior Fellow, and a Fulbright Distinguished Chair.
LSU Saturday Science is a monthly series of science presentations for Middle and High School students, teachers and the general public.
All the lectures will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at EBR Main Library, Main Room, 7711 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge 70806.
