LSU Symphony Orchestra – "Celebrating Black History Month"

The LSU Symphony Orchestra opens their spring season with a concert honoring black Americans, reflecting on their impact on our country’s history and celebrating their excellence and achievements in the arts.

The concert will pair Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony From the New World with the unparalleled voices of Joseph Bologne and Michael Abels. Bologne, a gifted conductor and violinist, created his skillful Symphony No. 1 full of nuanced style and exuberance. Abels’s propensity for pictorial soundscapes and the fusion of folk and classical genres has established his name as an exceptional film and symphonic composer, and he weaves these styles in his Delights and Dances for string orchestra with engaging finesse.
