About this Event
The LSU Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) and the LSU Graduate School are co-hosting four workshops via zoom to help LSU students (undergraduate and graduate) prepare application packages for the 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). Workshop descriptions are as follows:
Workshop 1: Thursday, September 1, 5:00-6:30 PM
Introduction and Overview – In this workshop participants will learn about Graduate Fellowships and the application process, with emphasis on the NSF GRFP
Speakers: Dr. Tyrslai Williams-Carter, Dr. Fahui Wang and Dr. Graça Vicente
Workshop 2: Wednesday, September 7, 5:00-6:30 PM
Develop your Personal Statement – In this workshop participants will learn tips on how to write your personal statement using a high–impact written communication style that will get your application noticed.
Speakers: Ms. Melissa Crawford, Dr. Fahui Wang and Dr. Graça Vicente
Workshop 3: Thursday, September 15, 5:00-6:30 PM
Develop your Research Statement – In this workshop, participants will receive support and writing prompts to help develop the broader impacts and intellectual merit of their research statement.
Speakers: Dr. Prosanta Chakrabarty, Dr. Fahui Wang and Dr. Janna Oetting
Workshop 4: Wednesday, September 21, 5:00-6:30 PM
Student & Faculty Panel Event – In this workshop participants will hear from students and faculty who have previously received the NSF GRFP as they share their experiences from the application process, provide advice, and answer your questions.
