The LSU Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) and the LSU Graduate School, with the participation of LSU Office of Strategic Initiatives and LSU Discover, are hosting four workshops via zoom to help LSU students (undergraduate and graduate) prepare application packages for the 2022 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). Workshop descriptions are as follows:

Workshop 1: Wednesday, September 8, 5-6:30 p.m.
Introduction and Overview–Overview of the application process, optimizing your application to meet NSF’s assessment criteria in intellectual merit and broader impacts, receive tips from faculty who have reviewed fellowship applications for NSF.

*Please note that this workshop date has changed from September 1, 2021, to September 8, 2021, due to Hurricane Ida and university closure.

Workshop 2: Thursday, September 9, 5-6:30 p.m.
Develop your Personal Statement–You will learn tips on how to write your personal statement using a high–impact written communication style that will get your application noticed. 

Workshop 3: Wednesday, September 22, 5-6:30 p.m.
Develop your Research Statement–In this workshop, participants will receive support and writing prompts to help develop the broader impacts and intellectual merit of their research statement. Additionally, you will hear from GRFP award recipients in a discipline similar to your own. 

Workshop 4: Thursday, October 7, 5-6:30 p.m.
Review of Draft Applications–The two essays that comprise the majority of the fellowship application will be evaluated by LSU faculty and your peers.
