Authorship & Dispute Resolution - Introduction to PS27
Workshop given by: Stephen David Beck
In every discipline, authorship is the recognition of significant contributions to research, scholarship and creativity. As our research becomes increasingly interdisciplinary and collaborative, issues relating to authorship attribution and its appropriate responsibilities have become a concern to faculty, students and the research community at large. And while disciplines have markedly different traditions of collaborative authorship, there are best practices which can apply universally across the academy.
This workshop will explore
LSU’s new policy on authorship and dispute resolution
Provide examples of how to determine appropriate attributions and look at the process by which authorship disputes will be addressed
Attendees will learn about how and when to address authorship roles and responsibilities, tools to help determine appropriate authorship order, addressing authorship between faculty and their graduate students, and remedies when conflicts arise.
