Fairytales & Folklore: 2026 LSU Print Guild Exchange Portfolio

Exhibition on view in Barnes Ogden Gallery through September 10

Reception: Thursday, September 10, 5–7 p.m.

Organized by The Print Guild of LSU, this exhibition features prints by artists who participated in The Guild’s 2025 trade portfolio. In spring 2026, The Print Guild of LSU issued a nationwide call for printmakers to submit work to a themed portfolio. Participating artists were asked to create an edition of sixteen prints interpreting the theme, “Fairytales and Folklore.” Each artist received a unique edition of fifteen prints and the LSU Printmaking Archive retained a full suite of the prints to share with students for years to come. A print exchange or trade portfolio is a long-held tradition in the printmaking community. An exchange allows students and professional artists to respond to contemporary themes or prompts, thus exchanging ideas with artists in and outside their communities. Because this exchange is student-focused, accessibility was an important organizing factor for The Print Guild. The Guild kept costs and participation requirements low, so students would have access to the opportunity to build their own collection of work while sharing in this important printmaking tradition.
